Maltese PETCT installation is a first for Envirotect

Pictured at St James’ Hospital, Sliema, Malta, are Envirotect Limited Managing Director Niven Smith, St James’ nuclear medicine doctor Marc Anthony Aquilina and John Sammut or Charles de Giorgio.

Mr Smith was attending the opening ceremony of the first PETCT scanner to be installed at the hospital.  Envirotect, a specialist radiation shielding company based in Bedfordshire, completed the project for Maltese contractor Charles de Giorgio.

The complex task of shielding was further complicated by working overseas with different working practices, regulations and local material availability.

Envirotect’s unique tiling protects the ceiling, while still allowing engineers access to services.  With this flexible approach it was possible to install shielding ranging between 3mm and 30mm to walls and ceilings.

Doors are a combination of sliding and swing with lead thicknesses of 1.8 – 8mm and complemented the existing finishes.

This is the latest in a series of PETCT scanner shielding projects for Envirotect.
