Bespoke window design meets the challenge

Envirotect has added to its range of shielding products with a stainless steel framed control room observation window.  The PETCT facility at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust required a 10mm lead equivalent control room window, as Envirotect managing director Niven Smith explained “We were not frightened by the thought of designing a new type of window for the customer.  Our team were up to the challenge of ensuring the protection provided interfaced with the wall shielding.  We were also faced with a logistical obstacle of installing the window on one of the upper floors and the only access was by s builder’s external goods hoist.  Each component had to be manoeuvred across the scaffolding and into position by hand”.

The company says that inventive ideas such as these fit its aim of widening its range of bespoke structural products.
